Dear Carl,

nice to see a first visitor that soon.
It would be great if you inform your friends and other herpetophiles about this new opportunity to meet herpers from abroad.
To get started, I think we need the help of all those which found their way to this forum to spread the news within the community.
Since as far as I know, the DGHT does not advertise for its forums anywhere, we do need personal propaganda ;)

Happy herping

Ingo

Hi Carl,

you`re our first non german-speaking visitor. It`s great to hear that there`re some non german folks interested in contacting the DGHT community. Where`re you from, and what kind of herper you are?

best regards

Silvia

Hello Ingo!

Yes I will tell others I know about the forum. I will make a post in some other forums.
Some of the names from posts in other sections I recognize.

Hello Silvia!

I am from Pennsylvania, USA but I am currently in the process of becoming a Canadian citizen.
I have been to the Hamm show a few times when I visited Germany in the past. Defineatly the best show there is!
I am Chameleon keeper. I have been keeping Chameleons for about 10 years. I have been lucky enough to keep about 25 species. Even luckier to be able to breed or hatch about 20 species.

My other interests are Phelsuma and Insects. I have worked with many Phelsuma, mantids, and beetles (Lucanids mostly). I am not keeping any Phelsuma or insects other than food items anymore though.

Hi Carl,

i´ve read lots of your stuff at Chris Anderson´s "Chameleon E-zine" and know about your experience in breeding Furcifer minor.

Hope to see you in the future at the TERRARISTIKA in Hamm.

Marco (just another cham-addict)

There we are! Thanks for finally fullfilling this long wish for an English
herpers board inside the German Herpetologists boards. Its nice to comunicate in english - its almost like once at home - I was many years married to a South-African Lady, therefore familiar with english.

Hello,

my english is quite basic, but anyway I´m courious.
What about the grammar and spelling? Same procedure as in the other boards, where the german control freaks are acting?

Hello :o)

I'm from Norway. I used to keep Rhacodactylus and a few other species of geckoes but in my country herpetoculture is forbidden so I got caught for keeping illegal animals.
Thanks to the EUFORA, DGHT, FBH and several other organisations, my government agreed not to put my animals to death. In stead my animales were sent to my friends at the Oslo Reptile park.

Now I'm trying to make a difference in descisionmaking in my country.
Hopefully some herptiles will be legalised in Norway after 2006.
We're far behind the rest of Europe in knowledge and legislation but I hope we're making a slow recovery in the right direction.

Do you happen to know Matthew Arnold? He is a snake and chameleon keeper from your area. I went to Madagascar with him last year.

Hi Carl,

much good luck to you in becoming a canadian citizen! the procedure with the authorities must be laborious, isn`t it? The reasons therefore are privatly or business related?
Hope to meet you in Hamm next spring. You`ll find a crowd of users always at the DGHT stand.

Hi Valen,

i`m happy to hearing from you here in our forum because there wasn`t enough time to say goodbye in Norderstedt! It`s great, that you authorities cancelled their descission, and you animals are saved. Hope, you`re able to report some more positive success stories from your country in the furture.

@all,

there`s absolutely no need talking about grammar, capitals and administration. The rules posted in the Fourm opener should be hopefully understandable. We`d like to discuss about Herpetology and personal matters, nothing else. So please refrain from refreshing these unnecessary discussion within this forum.

Best wishes for a nice sunday to all of you!

Kind regards

Silvia

@Silvia:

Sorry for my off- topic posting, but when I think obout some Members, perhaps in the discussion about crocodiles, your statement on the top is incorrect...

@all!

I´m surprised about this kind of discussion and I wish, that this english part of the DGHT will be sucsessful!

Greeting from Leverkusen- in an few hours, I will drive to the chamaeleon- happening...

Hi Yidaki,

i hope we will finally meet each other at the Chameleon-happening in D´dorf.

For future meetings I´m going to invite Andy & Janette Beveridge from the UK. They often travel to the Reptile show in Hamm and are well known in the European Chameleon scene for there longtime experience breeding Chamaeleo quadricornis.

Hi Yidaki,

you`re right, but i`m talking about participants within this forum who doesn`t speak or write german and visit us the first time, because of the possibility to talk in english. In this case your "off-topic" post will be excused :D !

best regards

Silvia

P.S. Have fun with the Cham-addicts today, Bex you too!

Hello Silvia,

The amount of paperwork and finding out what is needed is the most laboring. I already have arranged work so now it is the process of getting working papers.

I have decided to live in Canada because my girlfriend lives here. She is also a Chameleon keeper! :-)

Maybe this spring we can attend Hamm. It would be nice to meet people face to face. I am sure we would have much to discuss, especially Chameleons! Maybe even to exchange some animals.

Hi Carl,

to find a job in a foreign country is the biggest hurdle anywhere; anything else couldn`t be that important. Much good luck for both of you, because it`s a big step, in my opinion, to change the country for beeing with the lover, even if she`s also a Chamaeleon-breeder :)

Hope to meet you next spring in Hamm. Some more details for meeting each other could be arranged a couple of weeks before.
